Absolutely love this place it's like another world up there. Some much to see and so many hiking trails to follow. You'd never be stuck for a good trail to follow. There's plenty of carparks dotted around the mournes. Some are free so are just a few pound for the day.. campsite or you can wild camp and challenge the wall spend 2 days hiking around the wall. Few loughs and silent valley is a must see. Just check the weather before attending any trails just so you know what your in for. Nice clear day and you'll will be blown away with the beauty of the mournes. Newcastle Town is lovely aswell right beside the sea. With loads of shops and food places... you do find a few coffee trucks at the carparks . Nice for after a hike. We parked at mellmore Lodge for £4 and they had everything on site you'd need. Your best of looking at what mountain range your doing and find a carpark that's close to that. Carricklittle carpark is a good one aswell or the bloody bridge carpark and you can do the mournes coastl walk from there. That's a lovely little cool down after the mountains.
One of the most beautiful areas of this county. Amazing for a short walk, a hike or camping. So many beautiful parts to see.
Absolutely gorgeous mountain range with several peaks available for hiking. I highly recommend attempting to summit at least one starting from Newcastle as it is great exercise and beautiful.
Lovely place to visit .
Good walk from New castle .
Sufficient parking place available .
Many coffee shops in the sea shore.
Can be a good time with family and kids or with friends ,good play ground near parking.
Walking in a sunny weather provides great energy .
Slieve Donard is the highest and popular ,slightly difficult first time to reach the top.
Highly recommend ,worth your day spending time here in the mountains ..
A great place to get away from it all. Wide variety of terrain and walks. Amazing views. Be prepared to get wet.
The Majestic Mountains of Mourne in N.Ireland, as the famous singer Percy French sang “Where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea”
Absolutely stunning in it's raw beauty!! Worth the drive.
It would be 5 stars but it was wet on the day I went so go on a sunny day
Stunning walks through the magical Mourne Mountains, this route is from Trasseys car park to Slieve Donnard, fairly moderate walk, good walking boots are a must and proper waterproof and walking clothing a must, always be prepared as the weather can and dose change fairly quickly
Beautiful range of mountains to go walking, with the added advantage of being near the coast.
